Grid Connect Wind
|
As of 18 September 2009, Solar Shop Australia is no longer selling wind power products. We are confident that PV solar is a stronger product offering, and as such Solar Shop Australia has decided to narrow its focus exclusively to designing and installing Grid Connect Solar, Sun Farms and commercially sized Stand Alone Power Systems. Why the change? When estimating energy yield from a solar system, it is relatively straightforward to predict power output for every hour of the day and for every month of the year for any location on Earth. However, wind power requires careful consideration and specific site information in order to ensure optimal performance; it's usually best to measure wind speed at the site for at least one year before estimating the return on investment for a wind installation. Additionally, the location of a wind turbine is very important. For an optimally performing wind installation, the turbine needs to be mounted in a barren, yet windy location devoid of trees and buildings. It is not a good idea to mount a wind power system on a house or shed. Wind turbines need virgin wind to perform at their peak, as second hand wind (that has bounced off a tree or building) is usually full of turbulent air. Lastly, Although wind turbines are eligible for the new Solar Credits Scheme, unless you are installing a wind turbine in an uninhabitable windy location, it is generally more cost effective to install around a 1.5kW solar system.
